Death

As much as I bitch about our folks being killed in Iraq Since "Mission Accomplished" (5/1/03) (the list) 1555. This number pales besides some other numbers:
  • In the first quarter of this year, there were 206,970 accidents causing casualties in China, resulting in 30,597 deaths, according to a news release by the GAWS.
  • Tsunami deaths soar past 212,000
  • California Homicides for 2002 = 2395
  • Yet every year more than 10 million children, mostly from low- and middle-income countries, die before the age of five.
  • The total number of people killed in highway crashes in 2001 was 42,116

By the way, I didn't check these figures out or try to look for inflated or deflated figures. All I did was search on deaths, statistics and a subject and copied the first result that gave me some numbers.
